Michael G Caparon Jr. PhD

  Dr. Michael Caparon's field of expertise is infectious diseases and their immunity. Mike has a particular interest in the organism Streptococcus pyogenes, bacteria implicated in a number of serious diseases including, strep throat, impetigo, scarlet fever, and rheumatic fever.

A 1981 graduate of Michigan State University, he subsequently obtained his PhD in Microbiology at the University of Iowa in 1985. Dr. Caparon's postdoctoral studies were at Emery University. He has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Microbiology at the Washington University School of Medicine since 1989.
